I recently told a story on my personal blog about the time when I was 19 years-old and my sister set me up with a guy who was married without telling me that he was married. That is a story I’ve carried around for 35 years believing I couldn’t tell it.
Well, I told that story in small whispers to a few trusted people in my life over that time but to say it out loud – to type it out – in many ways I didn’t believe I could do it. Hard to say why. Embarrassment, shame, fear come to mind.
But once I put it out there, the funny thing is that I’ve experienced none of the above. Instead I’ve created a little more grace for the person I was, a little more acceptance for the person my sister was, and a little more understanding of the family dynamics that have held us for our 50+ years.
Grace, acceptance, and understanding for ourselves and others is a pretty good summary of why Vicki and I came together to create this space, and especially our podcast. Also laughter, joy, wonder, kindness, mystery, and community.
We’ve been described as women on a storytelling mission. Even so, it took us a while to figure out exactly how to showcase that on our podcast. But through a few reswizzles, we think we might have a way.
Each podcast, starting with episode 66 to be released on Friday, will start with someone telling a story. It could be me, Vicki, or anyone of our wonderful guests. Likely a personal narrative but we’ll have authors come on with fiction as well. But in any case, you will know that tuning in means being treated to a story.
And through stories, we hope to further grace, acceptance, understanding, joy, wonder, kindness, mystery and community – for ourselves and others. Join us, will you?

There is nothing better –;nothing more bonding — than to tell stories and to listen to them. A great way to begin your podcasts with Vicki, Wynne.

I couldn’t agree more. And we love it when you come on the podcast to tell your stories, Dr. Stein!

Love this concept. I think it means so much to the listeners but also so much to the person to say the words out loud. You are telling them their voice matters and they deserve to be heard- really heard and acknowledged.

Kudos to you for the courage to tell your story out loud. What a gift and blessing for others who would so benefit by doing the same. Thank you for your willingness to be openly vulnerable and for being a way-shower. 👏

You make a great point, Wynne. Stories are not just healing for others but it can be healing for the person telling that story too. It must feel good indeed to let that out of your soul and into the world. 🙏 Way to go to you and Vicki for curating more stories, real or fictional, to share with the world.

I’ve read stories to people from ages 2-90. My conclusion is unsurprising: everyone likes a good story. Looking forward to listening in when I can.
