In this episode, I’m with my co-host Vicki Atkinson and we are talking about questions.
It starts with a question that my eight-year-old daughter, Miss O, asked me about what my dad thought about my divorce. As I give her the long answer, I finally connect the dots to asking questions to my dad about his life.
Many of the answers I have about family and foundation came because I had the gut feeling that I needed to ask him to tell me the story of his life.
Sometimes we forget to tell stories because someone has not yet asked. As our brilliant and witty friend, Jack Canfora says, “I’m an open book. I just don’t know how to find the best pages.”
What have been our inflection points? What makes us laugh? What is meaningful? How have we overcome the rough patches? What were the things we wouldn’t wish on anyone else but made us strong?
Vicki and I talk about the questions and answers in this episode.
The full podcast episode is fifteen minutes. But as promised, we lead in each podcast episode with a story. Here’s the YouTube video of that story about what I told Miss O (eight minutes with captions so you don’t have to have the sound on.).
Please join us for the scenic and beautiful places we go when we share the power of story.
We know you’ll love it.

The eyes really are a window to the soul and one’s emotional state. What a great lesson for Miss O! Jack Canfora’s quote about being a book and not knowing what pages to share is thought provoking. Your message to ask questions to discover what’s in a loved ones book is good advice. Thanks! 🙂

Beautiful, all around, and I love that Miss O is finding ways to connect with her grandfather even though he’s no longer here.

Love your story Wynne and not seeing the glint in your eyes. I loved how your dad and you describe that. I never thought of it that way and it really is true. It says a lot about what a person is feeling. Love Miss O’s questions.

It’s a gray rainy Sunday here in Toronto and I enjoyed your lovely soothing conversation over a warm bowl of instant ramen soup. So soothing.
I love the insightful questions Ms O asks and the graceful way that you responded. You’re right, the eyes tell so much to the world about how we are feeling and I’m glad to see that glimmer and sparkle in your eyes!
And how lovely it would be for your dad to have met your two kids, Wynne. But he’ll live on through the stories you share with your kids!

Oh, I love this comment, Ab. Thank you for watching and being part of our conversation in this extended way! You’re right – all the people we lose stay present when we share stories about them! Hope you are having a great week!
