Wynne and I were honored recently to sit down with acclaimed author, Christina Hwang Dudley, to discuss her latest book, “Pride & Preston Lin“, a gorgeous adaptation of the beloved Jane Austen novel, “Pride & Prejudice“.
We’re not the only readers who’ve raved about Christina’s latest book. Publisher’s Weekly wrote:
“In a world with so many Pride & Prejudice adaptations, a new one has to be truly special to stand out and this one is. Dudley’s contemporary debut is faithful to its source material but finds clever ways to make it work in a modern setting, while also adding an authentic Chinese American perspective on the beloved story.”
Christina generously peels back the layers to share details about her inspiration and love of classic literature and the romance genre. It’s obvious in her writing. Dialogue that’s crisp and engaging from characters who embody all the wit and humor from the classic Jane Austen novel.
But let me be clear. You don’t have to be a Jane Austen fan to find yourself drawn into Christina’s fresh and engaging tale.
You’ll love it because it’s so beautifully written with doses of humor and complexity about family, relationships and modern-day strife.
Along the way, Christina (who’s authored an amazing fourteen books in total) shares her insights about authorship – sharing tips which prompted Wynne and I to smile and nod with gratitude and delight.

Hi, Vicki. I meant to leave a comment here earlier, and got distracted, haha. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed listening to your conversation with Christina. She’s great and very open with the do’s and dont’s in writing and marketing. I told Wynne I liked her “little inspirations” advice. 😊Thank you!

Loved this conversation with Christina and diving deeper into her writing and creative process. So interesting to hear about her seeing the parallels between Austen’s world and Chinese culture’s competitiveness.
Had to laugh at the Asian kid working in the smoothie stand. Yes, what would the parents think?!
And so fun to hear the inspiration behind the Gutenberg Bible and the man falling in love with the switchboard lady. Inspiration truly comes from anywhere and everywhere!
