This past weekend, my kids gave me the go-ahead to get rid of the playhouse that was tucked into a corner of our backyard. In the past year, we were mostly using it as storage for the pink yard flamingos so Cooper wouldn’t chew them.
I wanted to get it to the curb to give it away before they could change their minds. My friend, Eric, is a marketing genius. He did me the dual favor of helping me carry the playhouse to the curb and gave me the idea for the marketing signage:

Marketing is not my comfort zone. As much as I try to nurture my creative side, I still don’t have the knack for promotion. But in the spirit of trying new things, Vicki and I recorded a promo for our podcast guest this coming Friday, Andrew Mayne. Hats off to the amazing Vicki Atkinson who is so inspiring for her whole-hearted willingness to innovate and push the boundaries.
Not sure how well we sold it — but Andrew Mayne is a very talented and interesting guest and this conversation leaves you with a lot to think about. And like the playhouse, the podcast is FREE.

Pretty good one, isn’t it? I also have a bit of a scrape near my right eye where I was hit by a house… 🙂

Oh no!!!! Is this like a Wicked reference? I hope the house didn’t land on you! 😜

Promotion isn’t my gig either. I worked in sales and marketing for a while. Was never comfortable doing it, though. I’m too reserved, I guess.

Marketing is tough. I guess practice makes perfect…or better, at least!

I’d take better — or at least just a little more comfortable! Thanks, Belinda!

What a great promo video! Well done. You had fun with it and that’s what successful marketing is all about. I hope you found a good home for the mini home. (now where will the flamingos live?)

Oh, you have me laughing, Darlene, because I was just looking at the flamingos sitting on a picnic table wondering the same thing. Maybe I should give them away with the house! 🙂

A houseful of flamingos! I can see a picture book coming out of this.😉

Well ACTUALLY, you two are just too cute! And you’re years ahead of me Wynne. We finally got tid of our kids’ playhouse last summer! 😂

That’s funny about your playhouse. Well, they are filled with memories and not easy to get rid of.
Eric was helping me move it to the curb and we had a tight spot squeezing it through the gate. As he pushed and I pulled, it came free and hit me right below the right eye. Eric quipped by saying it was the most literal version of domestic abuse – I got hit BY a house!

“Marketing is not my comfort zone. As much as I try to nurture my creative side, I still don’t have the knack for promotion.” Says who? I’m not buying it. Did the dollhouse get picked up? We’re all expecting funny Vicki and Wynne promotions now for every podcast!!! Ha, ha.

Oh no – don’t expect that. Unless you want to be roped in, Brian! 🙂

Hilarious! 12 sq ft. I shared this recently on another blog, but as a gag, we put a $10,000 or best offer sign on a friend’s old clunker that would be lucky to sell for $300.

That’s hilarious, Pete! Did it sell? 🙂

It’s nice to have a partner in crime. I’d be completely stuck without Vicki and all this lovely community encouragement!

A fun way to advertise the tiny house — I hope it was picked up quickly! Speaking of fun, that’s a neat promo for your upcoming podcast episode. The guy has done ALL of those things? I was hooked just by cruise ship illusionist! 😄😄

The tiny house is gone!
Yes, Andrew Mayne has done a lot. For me it was fascinating to think about the intersection of writing and magic. Looking at your latest video, it has some of the same hallmarks about how it all comes together!

Not a marketer? I beg to differ! “like the playhouse, the podcast is FREE” is selling it pretty good!
