In my newest Art Talk with Libby Saylor podcast episode, I go deep and try to uncover what really holds us back from taking chances in our studio. Ultimately, I think it comes down to getting comfortable with our imperfections, as well as getting comfortable with taking risks outside of the studio. I also share with you a super vulnerable whoops moment that I experienced from taking a chance, and how it’s all part of the beautiful process of learning how to be braver, so we can show up as the courageous artists this world so desperately needs.
Here are 3 keys to finding the courage to take more risks in the studio
1. Make peace with looking stupid
2. WAIT for the right moment to jump
3. Take risks outside of the studio
I hope you enjoy this episode!

I like how you phrase this Libby. Taking risks drives the perfectionist part of my brain absolutely crazy but if I’m able to put that aside, even temporarily, the results are much better than I ever might have imagined. Interesting topic! Thanks for sharing.

Great points for finding courage in the art world-which I know little about! Although, I do understand why your studio would need to be your sacred place. 🙂

Great approach, I even teach the youngest kids to be okay with making mistakes along the way and we show them that we make mistakes as well. It’s harder for adults –

The fear of failure or not doing things right can be paralyzing in life or in the creation of art. I like the advice of making peace and getting into the messy fun of creating!
