Episode 106: The Miss Factor with Miss O

It should come as no surprise to you that “Miss O” – Wynne’s delightful nine-year old daughter is a tour-de-force in her own right. An artistic heart beats within. Miss O loves to perform and create and her deep empathy and kindness ooze out of her. She is Wynne Leon’s daughter…no doubt.

In our second episode with Miss O a few months ago, we discussed her grandpa (affectionately known as “Bumpa”) as Miss O described her amazing experience when she sang at her Bumpa’s beloved church. If you missed that podcast, you’ll need to tune in. My face hurt for an hour afterward…so much joy. So much joy.

But this time? Miss O is gracing us with an update on her writing gifts. We had the pleasure of learning from her last year in this episode where she shared her infectious zest and zeal – as only a 3rd grader can – for writing.

I was an educator for many years and I’ve read a lot of essays, but none finer than what Miss O offers in this episode as a talented nine-year old. Reflective and thoughtful about her Bumpa and the dear place he will hold – forever more – in her heart and the hearts of the many he touched during his lifetime.

I’ve often said that Wynne has a knack for observation and perception. Seeing the world as it is but remaining hopeful. I invite you to listen, watch and learn from Miss O. You’ll see the mother-daughter similarities. So good!

  1. Miss O’s essay about her Bumpa was quite touching, especially when she said she “sees” him in the back of the church while she performs. She’s so dramatically expressive! Good luck to Miss O. with her YouTube slime channel. 🙂

  5. Miss O is such a star, Wynne. I love this conversation she had with you and Vicki. Such poise, maturity and so articulate.

Her prose was a beautiful tribute to your dad’s 90th and I love how she said she sees him at the back of her performances cheering her on. And I bet you both teared up a bit when she said she hears so much good things about him from the church community that it’s almost like she’s met him.

    Such a heartwarming conversation! 💕
