Episode 110: Little League with Mr. D

Play Ball!

We’ve got baseball on our minds, thanks to Wynne’s adorable five-year-old son, Mr. D.

In this – his inaugural podcast – Mr. D delights us with stories from his first exposure to little league. There’s nothing better than seeing the joy of America’s favorite pastime through the eyes of the youngest.

Mr. D’s a great teacher. We learn about the necessary equipment in order to play safely as he shows off the latest in little league baseball gloves, helmets and bats.

But Mr. D’s favorite piece of equipment…comes from a tub. You’ll need to tune in to understand. I love how he zeroed in on the baseball swagger and a ‘tool of the trade’ used by all the big leaguers.

If you need a pick me up or a smile, this is the show for you. I love visiting with Wynne’s darling daughter, Miss O, and now Mr. D’s in on the family business. Apple. Tree. You know what I mean.

Stick around til the end for bonus footage that has nothing at all to do with baseball…but everything to do with love…innocence and a reminder from Mr. D about what matters most.

Oh – and gosh! I almost forgot. Mr. D is the ‘lead off man’ because next week we’ll have another special guest with a best-seller in the making. Cubs fans…baseball fans…history buffs. You won’t want to miss it.

Play ball! And enjoy our visit with Mr. D.

  1. Mr. D. is an adorable child and wonderfully focused for a five-year-old. I enjoyed listening to his comments about his baseball experience and was impressed by his answer regarding the most important thing about Little League-making friends! Great podcast-thanks Vickie and Wynne. 🙂

  2. I didn’t know you had an interest in baseball, Vicki. One of the good things about sports is that our “rooting tendencies” tend to leave other differences on the shelf. Go Cubs!

    1. So perfectly put, Dr. Stein! Yes…and yes! I’m a long-time fan of the “Big Red Machine” – the Cincinnati Reds in their heyday in the 70’s…but everyone’s a Cubs fan…eventually! 😁🥰😁

  3. Hmm, this got me thinking. Sorry Vicki and Wynne, you’ve done an amazing job with the podcast, but we have to let you go. It’s time for the Miss O and Mr. D podcast. Ha, ha. How can they be so young and such naturals? Ha. ha. You guys have me on and I stutter and stammer and go in ten different directions. Wynne’s kids come on and they look like they’ve been doing this for years. Ha. ha.

  4. Oh, this was just beyond adorable to enjoy on this gray Saturday evening. Mr D is a delight and I loved hearing and seeing him share his love for baseball and his little show and tell, including his glasses. The post credits scene with the little card doodle is so cute. A delightful podcast and I hope we get to see him again!

  5. Well, if you’ve practiced “100,000 times probably,” it’s no wonder he got a hit his first time playing. This is such a fun episode; it’s great to see Mr. D’s mannerisms brought to life. Thank you for sharing!

  6. Mr. D is a natural. Not shy at all. I have so many good memories of our son playing sports. He made many great friends through athletics, got a degree in exercise science, and coached college football for eight years. He just switched careers so he can work from home and be with his son more. I’m proud of him for making family his top priority
